Staying healthy is important, but it doesn’t just come without some work on your part. You already know that eating healthy is important along with proper exercise, but there are other things you must do to remain healthy and well and maintain balance in your life between work and home.
- Eat a balanced diet. This doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy a burger now and then, enjoy a glass of wine, or have a piece of cake. It’s all about moderation. Focus on fruits and vegetables, whole grains, and lean protein. Be responsible for what you eat.
- Make sure that you aren’t spending all of your time at work or focused on work. Yes, you can be home, but you can still be tied to work if you are using your phone or your computer to do work projects from home. A little bit of work at home is okay but it should always be in moderation.
Sleep and Relaxation
- Both sleep and relaxation are essential to your immune system and your body’s ability to rejuvenate. By getting enough sleep (7 to 9 hours), you will be better able to cope with work and home.
- Create routines for sleep, work, home, and play.
- Learn to relax both at work and at home, to manage your stress levels and help you be able to maintain balance. At work, quick breathing exercises can be very helpful. Outside of work yoga, reading, music, and a bath are all great ways to relax.
Have a Regular Checkup
- Are your health checkups current? Cholesterol, blood sugar, teeth, eyes, etc. Schedule your yearly checkups in your calendar and set with a reminder, and make your health a priority.
- Doing so will ensure you are in top shape so that you can better handle work and life.
- When was the last time you had one of those great belly laughs. You need to do it daily. Do it at work, do it at home, and do it at play.
- Laughter relaxes you, boosts your immune system, and acts as a natural anti depressant.
- It also allows you to let things go, not take things so seriously whether at work or home, and to stress less when things don’t go according to plan.
